I’m your barista, along with Gabriela fromnbsp;a href=”http://www.iggiandgabi.com/blog/”iggiamp;gabi/a. Each Friday we pick from a menu of topics and share our thoughts on our respective blogs.br /br /We’ve also got plans brewing for interviews, events and even some exciting giveaways, so stay tuned! Join the discussion by responding in the comments, on your own blogs or on twitter using the hash tag #yacafe./ibr /bspan class=”Apple-style-span” style=”color: purple;”br //span/bbr /i/ibspan class=”Apple-style-span” style=”color: purple;”Today’s Special:/span/b What YA books would make good movies?br /br /Summer is the perfect time to hang out in the beach and catch up on your TBR pile, but it’s also the season that makes me want to watch movies. When the hot and humid NYC weather (a href=”http://twitter.com/#!/Ghenet/status/78576527398281216″which I hate/a!) arrives, the idea of being in a nice air-conditioned theater for a couple of hours sounds so appealing.br /br /I don’t mind when books are made into movies but they rarely are as good as the book. Nevertheless, there have been some good YA/MG adaptations, like the a href=”http://m.harrypotter.warnerbros.com/harrypotterandthedeathlyhallows/”iHarry Potter series/i/anbsp;(SO excited for iDeathly Hallows Part 2/i!) and a href=”http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0981227/”iNick and Nora’s Infinite /iiPlaylist/i/ai./ibr /br /What about other YA books? What other YA stories would make good movies? Here are a few adaptations I’d love to see:br /br /biAnna and the French Kiss/i by Stephanie Perkins/bbr /Of course I’m choosing this one because I can’t stop talking about this book. I’d love to see Anna and Étienne St. Clair’snbsp;romance bud on the big screen. I love romantic comedies so an iAnna and the French Kiss/i movie would be right up my alley. I can imagine the artistic shots of Paris and a quirky soundtrack of french music. Plus a hot Etienne. Yes, please!br /br /biAmy amp; Roger’s Epic Detour /iby Morgan Matson/bbr /a href=”http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-D64k7CiyUFs/TfrHW8v1sJI/AAAAAAAAB0s/uShM1Klvfac/s1600/books-movies.jpg” imageanchor=”1″ style=”clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;”img border=”0″ height=”131″ src=”http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-D64k7CiyUFs/TfrHW8v1sJI/AAAAAAAAB0s/uShM1Klvfac/s200/books-movies.jpg” width=”200″ //aThis is another romantic story, but I couldn’t resist adding it to the list. The road trip Amy and Roger take across the country (with the various pit stops and adventures) lends itself to be portrayed on film. Plus there are multiple musical playlists listed throughout the book so this movie would have a kick-ass soundtrack. I love a good movie soundtrack. (Have you listened to the a href=”http://www.500daysmusic.com/”soundtrack for i500 Days of Summer/i/a? It’s fantastic.)br /br /biDivergent/i by Veronica Roth/bbr /I’m switching gears with this one but I just finished reading it and wasn’t able to put it down! I’m a fan of dystopian YA and this one is up there for me with iThe Hunger Games/i. Amazing. If you haven’t read it, you really need to! I can totally imagine it as a movie. There’s so much action, adventure and suspense. I may get my wish because movienbsp;rights were sold and a a href=”http://www.imdb.com/news/ni11512661/”screenwriter has been chosen/a.br /br /iCheck out what fellow barista Gabi picked on her blog: /ia href=”http://www.iggiandgabi.com/blog”iiggiamp;gabi/i/ai. /ibiThen it’s your turn! What YA book would you like to see made into a movie?/i/b

I bought Divergent because I heard they were making it into a movie. Of course with all the hype, I would have probably bought it anyway.
br /br /I can#39;t wait to see it.
1Can I include things I would want to be made into a series as well? br /br /SWEEP by Cate Tiernan needs to be adapted into something pronto. Love that series.br /br /HOW I LIVE NOW by Meg Rosoff would make a great film.br /br /RUNAWAYS by Brian Vaughn would be a great great series to adapt.
2I think Divergent would make a great movie. I#39;d also love to see Heist Society by Ally Carter.
3I would love to see Delirium by Lauren Oliver turn into a movie. Or, I just read We#39;ll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han, I could see that as a movie too.br /br /lt;3 Gina Blechman
4@Stina: I can#39;t wait either! I#39;m really excited they#39;re making a movie of it.
I also can#39;t wait for book 2.br /br /@Mia: Absolutely! I haven#39;t read any of these books/series so I#39;m adding them to my TBR list.br /br /@Laura: I still need to read Heist Society. Adding it to my TBR list!br /br /@Gina: I just re-read The Summer I Turned Pretty for our YA Cafe book club so I want to re-read the second book before reading the third. I#39;m excited to see who Belly chooses. (Don#39;t tell!)
I agree the series would be great movies.
5It was REALLY good. I hadn#39;t read either of the other two books. I just posted a review of it, which will pretty much tell you everything you already know. lol. You#39;ll have to tel me what you think of it when you get to it.br /br /lt;3 Gina Blechman
6Ooh, great list
I want to read all these books!br /br /a href=”http://fromsarahwithjoy.blogspot.com/” rel=”nofollow”Sarah Allenbr /(my creative writing blog)/a
7One of my favorite books as a kid, that I#39;ve always wanted to see made into a movie was quot; The Pushcart War.quot; Another middle grade book was quot;Peppermints in the Parlorquot; which my fourth grade class voted as the book we most wanted to see made into a movie. Creepy!
8Ghenet – I have the Heist Society, If you want to borrow it email me. I loved the spy books she wrote.
9@Mike: I haven#39;t read the ones you listed so I#39;ll check them out! I#39;d love to borrow the Heist Sociaty so I#39;ll shoot you an email. Thanks!
